Optimisation of train speed to limit energy consumption

The speed profile of a train plays an important role in energy consumption and resulting costs. industrial objective this work is thus to develop method reduce the consumed by over journey playing on driver commands (traction braking forces) while respecting punctuality constraints. First, rigid body approach (Lagrangian formalism) introduced characterise dynamics train. In particular, aerodynamic (including wind effect), traction, forces are taken into account, special attention paid vertical lateral characteristics track as they play key dynamics. Second, model for recovery (thanks dynamic braking) introduced. Experimental measurements high-speed line then used estimate parameters which two previous models based validate their predictive capacities. optimisation problem under constraints finally solved using evolutionary algorithm where implemented augmented Lagrangian formalism. performance proposed terms reduction compared associated with commercial trains.
